Race Day Information
RACE WEEK INSTRUCTIONS
We are extremely excited to have you as a part of the first annual Guardian Mile presented by gOH Run! Please find this email as your roadmap to all things Guardian Mile. We look forward to seeing everyone on race weekend!
All participants will have three (3) opportunities for packet pick-up. Please see below for locations and times. If you have friends and family who still need to register this can be done during all three (3) packet pick-ups.
Thursday August 15th: Packets will be available for pick-up at Second Sole in Lakewood. Pick-up will start at 5:00pm and go until 7:30pm.

Saturday August 17th: Race day pick-up will be available until 6:30pm. 30 minutes prior to the start of the first race. Packets will be available in the immediate starting line area in the back parking lot of Sherwin Williams off of Gehring and W.25th. Please arrive early if you are planning on race day pick up.
Schedule of Events:
5:00pm – Packet Pick-up and Race Day Registration Opens. Please note, we have a very small window for packet pick-up and registration on race day. We encourage all of you to attend one of our pick-ups on Thursday or Friday.
6:30pm – Race Day Registration Closes. Packet pick-up will continue as close to the start of the race as possible for those who are Pre-Registered.
Please be at your starting corral 10 minutes prior to your scheduled start.
7:00pm – gOH Run High School and Youth Divisions
Our high school athletes will go off first followed directly by those who are are entered in our middle school competition. Following the MS entrants will be those 12 and under. Please note that we will need the HS/MS athletes at the front of our start line for this race. HS/MS coaches who have more than five (5) entrants in this event are eligible for a raffle at Friday's Q&A session. Prizes are provided courtesy of Hoka One One.
Awards: Each winning team and individual for both the high school and middle school divisions will be awarded limited edition Guardian Mile singlets provided by Fitzpatrick Media Group
7:20pm – Ohio Sports Chiropractic & Rehab Community Division
Runners will be lined up by projected finish time. At the start please find the sign that most closely matches your projected finish time that you entered at registration. Again, we have a very competitive community race with entrants finishing near the 4 minutes mark. We will be lining athletes up starting with a 4:00 Mile sign and on up.
Awards: First place prize of $300 to men's and women's winner. Second and third place finishers will be presented with a gift courtesy of Hoka One One.
7:40pm – Deloitte Competitive Masters
Please be sure to make sure that you registered as a competitive master if you plan on running in this division Runners will be lined up by projected finish time. At the start please find the sign that most closely matches your projected finish time that you entered at registration. .All masters runners must be able to run a mile in under 10 minutes.
Awards: First place prize of $200 to men's and women's winner. Gift cards will be awarded to second and third place finishers.
8:00pm – Monticello Associates Elite Women
8:15pm – Monticello Associates Elite Men
We are extremely excited for our Guardian Mile Elite Races. Our fields include some of the best American and international milers on the circuit today. Below are the tentative start lists for our men’s and women’s races. Our elite men and women will be competing for a $13,000 prize purse!
The Finish Line – We are thrilled to have race day refreshments from Georgio’s Pizza and Mitchells Ice Cream! Join us at the finish line after your race for refreshments as well as music from Just Dreaming Ent. We will be presenting awards for each heat of the Guardian Mile on a rolling basis throughout the evening culminating with interviews with the elites at the completion of their races. Also located at the finish line will be our first aid tent. Services will be provided by MetroHealth Sports Medicine.
Post Race - Our finish line festival will end shortly after the completion of the men’s elite race and our evening will continue at Platform Beer Co. for those who are 21 and over. We welcome all participants, friends and family to join us at Platform where we will celebrating the completion of the first annual Guardian Mile!
Sunday August 18th – 9:00am Run with the Pros!
Second Sole Lakewood will be hosting a group run the morning after the Guardian Mile. We welcome runners of all levels to join us for yet another chance to get to know the pros and get in some miles!
Parking Options for Race Day
Luckily the Guardian Mile is one of the most conveniently located road races in Cleveland. With the start line at the corner of Lorain Ave. and West. 24th Street runners are presented with many options:
The Guardian Mile start line is conveniently located at the Ohio City W.25th Street Red Line Rapid Transit Stop. Runners are able to hop right off feet from the start line for our race!
Please note there is currently construction on the Red Line west of Ohio City. If you are traveling east bound on the Red Line please, take note of these transit reroutes.
By Motor Vehicle
Most participants will be arriving by motor vehicle. There are plenty of parking options for the race outlined below:
The Start: Ohio City has plenty of lots, paid and unpaid, to choose from. Please see the linked map to locate lots. The most convenient lot is a paid lot located directly behind the West Side Market. This lot is the closest to the start of the race and will provide you with great access to Ohio City post race.
The Finish: There is metered parking on the south side of the finish line for those who prefer to park at the finish. This lot is off Commercial Rd. / Central Viaduct. This lot is accessible via the East 9th Street Extension if coming from I-77 and downtown and Canal Rd. if coming from the West Side.
WE WILL BE CLOSING DOWN THE ENTIRE HOPE MEMORIAL (LORAIN-CARNEGIE) BRIDGE FOR THIS EVENT!
At 6:30pm motor vehicle traffic will be rerouted around the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge down to the Detroit-Superior Bridge. Other road closures include W. 20th Street at the bridge crossing and Gehring St. at W.25th Street. The bridge will reopen shortly after the completion of the men’s elite mile.
